Africa has so much beauty and wealth to celebrate. If not, why were we colonized in the first place? Why does the West keep colonizing us economically in the present?
Of course, we are not here to berate, wail, play the victim game and complain of how much we have been cheated. We are not here to show you how poor and deprived Africa is. UN, World Bank and AU websites do a good job of that. Each time we visit these websites, a picture of a black child who is very hungry or sick or thin hits your vision.
So then, why don't we step away from the norm and look inwards to celebrate and appreciate this beautiful mother of ours; this mother who has suckled and nurtured great men like Desmond Tutu; who has given us high mountains like Kilimanjaro and beautiful sceneries like Djenné and waterfalls like Victoria falls and rivers like the Nile and deserts like the Sahara and a variety of foods like Fufu (who doesn't like fufu) and varied natural resources like cobalt and a people as diverse as it gets. Do you know that South Africa has 11 official languages? Oh! That is the beauty of our Africa.
The New African Pages blog does not deny the truth that Africa and Africans deserve more than where we are now and what we have now; but we can appreciate how far we have come, consolidate on our strengths and rebuild what has been destroyed.
For those of us who do not believe in Africa, the reason is that you haven't been given much reason to do so. Allow us to show you how beautiful and great this our continent is and how much more beautiful and greater she can become as we tell her story right and maybe, encourage you to join us as we continue to build her.
We will be bold to express our opinions, our hopes and our solutions to the problems that plague the continent we love.

ReplyDeletePeople have resort to all forms of violence both in the urban and rural expanse coupled with exploitation and plundering of natural resources which makes it possible for people to leapfrog from civilization to barbarism. So now the million dollar question is ,how do we quickly backslide to civilization if public icons are considered as string in a fabric that champion the course of revolution ?
